Welcome to Otters Class. Our teacher is Miss Williams.
We have been busy in Otters this term. In literacy the children in Year 2 and 3 have been learning how to improve their writing and make it more interesting to read by using fronted adverbials, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. We have also learnt about onomatopoeia. They wrote some wonderful diary entries from the Troll and great fictional explanations about how cars REALLY work!

Children in Year 3 and 4 have enjoyed both their topics in geography- Megacities and earthquakes. They are now experts on naming some of the world’s largest cities and locating these on the world map. They particularly enjoyed learning about the layers of the earth, causes of earthquakes, all about the Pacific Ring of Fire and finding out about the physical and human effects of earthquakes in both developed and un-developed countries.

Time to share some exciting developments in our art curriculum, particularly in relation to our Stone Age topic. The children have been exploring the fascinating world of cave art, which has provided them with a wonderful opportunity to engage creatively while learning about this significant aspect of history.
Throughout this project, the children have experimented with various artistic techniques, including creating tints, tones, and shades using paint, as well as working with charcoal and pastels. After trying out different mediums and designs, each child selected a final design to bring to life on their own cave walls. This hands-on experience has not only enhanced their artistic skills but has also deepened their understanding of the cultural significance of cave art.
We believe that this project has been instrumental in fostering creativity and self-expression among the children. It has encouraged them to think critically about their artistic choices and the historical context of their work.
