Information regarding the return to school , Term 2- Tuesday 4th Jan 2022

Dear parents/Carers

RE: COVID

Firstly, can I wish you all a very Happy New Year and I hope that everyone was able to have

the best possible Christmas!

Sadly, I must report that we have seen a series of positive cases over the Christmas

holiday, connected to ALL three classes.

Thankfully, the children were not too poorly and they have completed a full 10-day

isolation, although I believe some of the adults within our community have perhaps been a

little more unwell.

Therefore, can I please ask that where at all possible and as soon as is practicable (knowing

today is Sunday etc. and that many pharmacies are struggling with LFDs) that the family

carry out lateral flow tests.

Please note:

If children or adults show symptoms of COVID apply directly for a PCR test (and not LFT)

Prior to the break, the school discussed some contingency planning for our return on

Tuesday – much of this is internal and you’ll probably not see too much change on the

playground.

Also, we’ve a couple of enquiries regarding the new isolation guidance. The self-isolation

advice for people with coronavirus has changed, and it is now possible to end self-isolation

after 7 days, following 2 negative LFD tests, taken 24 hours apart. However, the guidance

states:

‘If you end your self-isolation period before 10 full days, you are strongly advised to limit close contact with other people outside your household, especially in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces’

As you can imagine, in school this is almost impossible. Therefore, we will be continuing

with the full 10-day isolation guidance.

I hope you have an enjoyable last day or so of the holiday and look forward to seeing you

(where situations allow) on Tuesday 4th January 2022.

Yours sincerely

Mr T W Emery
